Week eleven of the FanDuel Fantasy Football season is fast approaching. Last week was a really good week for me personally; and for those readers of this weekly column who played some of my touts you also did quite well. These are some early thoughts as we head into week eleven.
Plenty of experts touted Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery this past week. He was on my short list last week but he didn’t make the cut and instead I recommended Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin ($6700) instead. Jeffery laid a dud, Baldwin went off for three touchdowns and Jeffery wound up getting suspended for PEDS……..this week Baldwin is $200 dollars less and has a matchup at home against a Philadelphia Eagles defense allowing just 222 passing yards a game a game and 13 touchdowns this season.
Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott ($8700) continues to impress. Last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers Elliott scored 39.9 FanDuel points and three touchdowns. This week the Cowboys host a Baltimore Ravens defense allowing just 73.1 yards a game and four touchdowns this season. As good as that Cowboys line is and as good as Elliott has played this season I think I will pass this week.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger ($8400) is the third most expensive QB on the main slate. He’s also coming off a three touchdown performance against the Cowboys. He has a much easier task this week when his Steelers travel to Cleveland to take on a Browns defense allowing 275.4 passing yards a game and 25 touchdowns this season. While it might not be a bad idea to roster Big Ben the Browns also allow 143.7 rushing yards a game with the Steelers currently an 8.5 point road favorite. That also puts Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell ($9100) into play. Decisions, decisions this week in that game.
The New England Patriots are currently favored by 13.5 points against the home team San Fransisco 49ers. Vegas also set a 51 point over under. This has all the makings for another “Lagarrette Blount ($7300)” day. Blount had 24.9 FanDuel points and three touchdowns last week against the Seahawks and lets face it; the 49ers rushing defense isn’t very good. Okay, they are pretty bad allowing 184.4 rushing yards a game and 13 touchdowns this season. There are plenty of ways to look at this game but for now Blount is on my radar this week.
Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi ($7600) had a great three game run recording FanDuel scores of 33.2, 28.1 and 20.5 points. This past week he hit a snag only scoring 8.5 FanDuel points against a San Diego Chargers defense that is similar to the Los Angeles Rams defense he will face this week. I’m sure after last weeks disappointment many will be sour on him. The thing about Ajayi is that each of those three monster games he had came at home; when playing on the road Ajayi hasn’t had a double digit FanDuel output and I would think hard and long before rostering Ajayi this week.
Here are my five top Quarterbacks I think will have big games this week.
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota ($8000) has thrown 14 touchdowns over the past five games and will face an Indianapolis Colts defense allowing 287.9 passing yards a game and 17 passing touchdowns. Seven of those aerial touchdowns were given up in their past five games. This season Mariota has thrown for 2482 yards, 21 touchdowns and just eight interceptions for a 20.4 FanDuel average. Vegas set a huge 53 point over under with the Colts an early week home favorite. The game will be played in a dome so weather won’t be a factor.
The other side of that Colts Titans game has some real value also and I think Colts QB Andrew Luck ($8100) is also in play on Sunday. Over his past five games Luck has thrown for nine touchdowns and for the season has thrown for 2565 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions with four of those interceptions occurring over the past five games. All of that is good for a 20.9 point FanDuel average. The Titans are allowing 267.7 passing yards a game and 16 touchdowns this season. Hopefully the game lives up to its billing and we see a lot of points on Sunday in Indianapolis.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger ($8400) has a great matchup this Sunday with a Cleveland Browns team that is allowing 275.4 yards per game and 25 touchdowns this season. Big Ben has thrown for 2357 yards and 20 touchdowns this season and that works out to a 21.9 FanDuel average. Vegas has set this one at 49 points with the Steelers an early week eight point favorite. The weather forecast isn’t great; they are expecting a cold day (38 degrees) with drizzle possibly changing to snow and winds around 17 miles an hour. The matchup is solid but I would keep an eye on that wind this week before selecting Roethlisberger.
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady ($9300) has a terrific matchup on the road against a San Francisco 49er defense allowing 249.2 passing yards a game and 19 touchdowns this season. Brady has been his usual fantastic self-throwing for 1635 yards and 12 touchdowns with just one interception in only five games played. Vegas set a huge 51.5 point over under with the Patriots an early week 13 point road favorite. It will be raining in the Bay area but the winds should remain calm and I have no reservations at all in going with Brady this week against the 49ers.
If you want to spend down at QB this week I think the best choice might be Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith ($6700) against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense allowing 267.7 passing yards a game and 19 touchdowns this season. This season Smith has thrown for 1816 yards and eight touchdowns with just three interceptions. Vegas has set the over under at 43.5 with the Chiefs an early week 7.5 point home favorite. The weather shouldn’t be too much of a factor with partly cloudy skies and an 11 mile an hour wind. If you use Smith you can fill your roster with plenty of expensive plays that might pay off handsomely for you this Sunday.
Here are my top plays for Running Back for week eleven!
Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley ($6700) has a solid matchup at home with a Miami Dolphins defense allowing 128.8 yards a game and seven touchdowns this season. Gurley has had a tough season rushing for 515 yards and just three touchdowns for a 11.2 FanDuel average. Vegas has set the over under at 40 points with the Dolphins an early week one point favorite. The weather should be warm and clear and I have a feeling with all the hoopla surrounding Rams Rookie QB Jared Goff getting his first start Gurley might go overlooked and hopefully has a great ballgame on Sunday.
New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount ($7300) has a great matchup with a San Francisco 49er defense allowing 180.4 rushing yards per game and 13 touchdowns this season. Blount has been very solid this season running for 678 yards and 12 touchdowns this season for a 16 point FanDuel average. The Patriots are favored by 13 with a 51 point over under in this rainy road game and if you aren’t going to use Brady then maybe you should consider Blount this week.
Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick ($6700) has a solid matchup this Sunday against a Jacksonville Jaguar team allowing 124 rushing yards a game and nine touchdowns this season. The Jags also allow RB’s an additional 30 receiving yards a game and that bodes well for Riddick as he is averaging 7.8 receiving yards a game and has scored four touchdowns this season good for 14.9 FanDuel points a game. Riddick is also has 297 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown this season. Vegas has set a 47 point over under with the Lions an early week seven point favorite. Weather won’t be a factor as this one is being played inside.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin ($6500) has a solid matchup with a Kansas City Chiefs defense allowing 121.7 rushing yards a game and four touchdowns this season. Martin has rushed for 118 yards and just one touchdown this season worth 8.5 FanDuel points a game. Last week he did carry the ball 16 times so it appears as if Martin is healthy. Vegas has set an over under of 44.5 with the home team Chiefs an early week 7.5 point favorite. It should be cloudy in Kansas City with an 11 mile per hour wind and with this expected total being so low and the Chiefs rushing defense being the way it is Martin might be a sneaky play this week.
Last but certainly not least we have Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell ($9100) and his tremendous matchup against a Cleveland Browns defense allowing 143.7 rushing yards a game and 12 touchdowns this season. This season Bell has rushed for 433 yards and has rushed for one touchdown and caught one pass for six and is averaging 19.3 FanDuel points a game. The weather is going to be drizzle that could turn into snow with some fairly strong winds. Vegas has set the over under at 49 points with the visiting Steelers an early week eight point favorite. I really like Bell this week.
I have five Wide Receivers in great matchups that might do pretty well this week.
Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson ($9100) has a very good matchup this Sunday against a Washington Redskins defense allowing the WR1 to average 96.5 yards per game. As a team the Redskins allow 267.9 receiving yards a game and ten touchdowns this season. Nelson has 53 receptions this season for 635 yards and eight touchdowns and a 23.8 FanDuel points per game average. Nelson also has 22 Red Zone targets and has caught 12 of them for seven touchdowns. Vegas has set an over under of 50.5 points with the home team Redskins an early week three point favorite. It will be cloudy in Washington with a 10 mile an hour wind so this should be a good opportunity for Nelson this week.
Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews ($5800) has a solid matchup on the road against a Seattle Seahawks defense allowing the WR1 to average 87.8 yards per game. On the season Matthews has 48 receptions for 580 yards and three touchdowns for a 11.1 FanDuel points per game average. Matthews also has eight Red Zone targets catching four of them for three touchdowns. Vegas has set a 45 point over under with the home team Seahawks an early week six point favorite. The weather forecast calls for rain and it will be a bit windy with winds around 13 miles an hour. This should be a nice play on Sunday.
San Francisco 49er WR Jeremy Kerley ($5300) has a nice matchup with a New England Patriots team allowing the WR1 to average 86.9 yards a game and as a team the Patriots are allowing 272.2 passing yards a game and 12 touchdowns this season. Kerley has been good this season with 40 receptions for 424 yards and 3 touchdowns including catching three of the seven Red Zone targets thrown his way for three touchdowns. All that is good for a 8.47 FanDuel points a game. There is a huge 51 point over under with the 49ers a 13 point home underdog. The forecast calls for light rain in the Bay area but the wind should remain calm and I have a good feeling about Kerley this week.
Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton ($7900) has a great matchup with a Tennessee Titans team allowing the WR1 to average 76.8 yards a game and as a team they allow 287.1 yards a game and 16 touchdowns this season. Hilton has been very solid this season with 52 receptions for 791 yards and four touchdowns. Hilton has also caught seven of the ten Red Zone targets thrown his way for one touchdown and he is averaging 14.3 FanDuel points a game. The Colts are a three point home favorite with a big over under of 53 points, they are playing this one indoors and all the makings are there for Hilton to have a big game on Sunday.
Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews ($6000) has a great opportunity on Sunday against a Indianapolis Colts defense allowing the WR1 to average 91.1 yards a game and as a unit the Colts are allowing 298.2 passing yards a game and 17 touchdowns this season. Matthews has been solid this season with 36 receptions for 483 yards and six touchdowns and has caught all six of his Red Zone targets for five touchdowns and is averaging 10.2 FanDuel points a game. I like Matthews for all the same reasons I like Hilton and hopefully after Sunday you will like him too!
Here are five Tight Ends I think will help you win some cash this week.
Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker ($6400) has a terrific matchup with an Indianapolis Colts team allowing TE’s to average 88.1 yards per game. Walker has caught four of the seven Red Zone targets thrown his way for four touchdowns and has 42 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns this season. The Titans are a three point road underdog and the over under of 53 points plus they are playing inside makes Walker a solid play this Sunday.
Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller ($5500) has a very good matchup this Sunday with a New York Giants defense allowing TE’s to average 69.9 yards a game. Miller has caught five of the seven targets thrown his way for three touchdowns and has 44 receptions for 425 yards good for 9.2 FanDuel points a game. The over under has been set at 45 points with the home team Giants currently an early week 7.5 point favorite. It will be quite windy in East Rutherford but dry according to the weather forecast so if you are looking to save money at TE this week maybe Miller is your guy.
Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed ($6900) has a good matchup this week against a Green Bay Packers defense allowing TE’s to average 66.6 yards per game. Reed has caught six of the ten Red Zone passes sent his way for two touchdowns and has 44 receptions for 456 yards and three touchdowns this season. All that is good for 12.2 FanDuel points a game. Vegas has set the over under at 50.5 points with the Redskins an early week 2.5 point favorite. The winds are forecast to be about 10 miles per hour and the skies partly cloudy so Reed looks good all the way around on Sunday!
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta ($4800) has a very good matchup against a Dallas Cowboys defense allowing TE’s to average 63.4 yards per game. Pitta has caught three of the five Red Zone targets he’s seen and has 46 receptions for 375 yards this season for a FanDuel average of 6.6 points a game. The Cowboys are a seven point home favorite with a 45 point over under but the numbers are there and hopefully Pitta will see a few balls his way this Sunday.
Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle ($5000) has a good opportunity on Sunday against a Titans defense allowing TE’s to average 71.3 yards a game. Doyle has caught nine of the eleven Red Zone targets thrown his way for three touchdowns and has 36 receptions for 379 yards and four touchdowns this season. There is that huge over under of 53 points and the Colts are a three point home favorite and I have this feeling that Doyle is going to make something good happen this Sunday.
Good luck on FanDuel this week!
