Fantasy Basketball: FanDuel and Draft Kings NBA Plays for Friday January 20, 2017

There are nine games tonight on the main NBA Slate at both FanDuel and Draft Kings. That means there are plenty of options to explore. Here is what I have for you for Friday night.

  • Dallas is on the second game of a back to back tonight.
  • Milwaukee, Portland, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Sacramento, Memphis, Brooklyn, Houston, Atlanta, Utah and Indianapolis are all on the first game of back to backs

Top Plays to Consider for Friday January 20, 2017

New Orleans Pelicans PG Jrue Holiday has a terrific opportunity tonight against a Brooklyn Nets team that is dead last in the NBA against the PG position. Holiday has a home Usage Rate of 24 percent and last time he played Brooklyn he recorded 31 FanDuel points in 31.2 minutes played. The over under is set at 218.5 and the Pelicans opened as a ten point home favorite. Holiday is much cheaper on FanDuel ($6500) than he is on Draft Kings ($7200) but that isn’t going to deter me from having plenty of shares of Holiday tonight against that hapless Nets backcourt.

Golden State Warriors SG Klay Thompson will be involved in what should be the highest total of the night when the Warriors travel to Houston to take on the Rockets. The Rockets rank 29th in the NBA defensing SG’s and Thompson ain’t your garden variety shooting guard. Thompson has a 25 percent Usage Rate on the road and scored just 24 FanDuel points against the Rockets earlier this season. When Thompson gets hot he can score 60 FanDuel points or more and he’s priced at $6400 at FanDuel and $6500 at Draft Kings. I want a piece of that huge 237.5 over under and I will have plenty of Thompson shares tonight.

Indiana Pacers SF Paul George is going to be my late night hammer tonight when the Pacers travel to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers.  The Lakers are ranked 26th against the SF position and the price on FanDuel ($7400) is much more appealing than on Draft Kings ($7800). George went for 47 FanDuel points his last time against Los Angeles and with Indy favored by just 3.5 in a 220 point over under scenario looks too good to pass up on. George’s Usage Rate in road games is a bit lower than at home (26.5) but I like the matchup and the opportunity this game presents. And of course I like the price.

Los Angeles Lakers PF Julius Randle also has a great opportunity tonight against a Pacers defense allowing the PF to average 43.65 FanDuel points a game. Randle has a 22 percent Usage Rate at home and has a 50 plus FanDuel Fantasy point ceiling. Great over under of 220 in what looks like a competitive game plus his price on FanDuel ($6500) and Draft Kings ($6500) seems just about right. Even though Randle played just 20 minutes last time the Lakers played the Pacers he did manage to score one FanDuel point a minute. If Randle hits anywhere near 50 FanDuel points he will be money well spent.

Portland Trail Blazers C Mason Plumlee has a great opportunity tonight against a Philadelphia 76ers defense allowing the C to average 37.76 FanDuel points a game. Plumlee’s Usage Rate (18.7) is higher on the road than it is at home and his price at Draft Kings ($5200) is much more appealing than at FanDuel ($6300) but the 55 point FanDuel ceiling might be worth taking a chance on tonight.

As always make sure the players you have selected are actually playing tonight.

Good Luck!
