Week 17 of the Fantasy Basketball season begins on Monday February 13, 2017 and ends on Thursday. That’s an awful short week isn’t it? I don’t know how your individual league schedules things but we will be here and treat each week like it is a new week.
Boston and Indiana have three games this week. The Houston Rockets and New York Knicks have one game and every other NBA team has two games on their schedule this week.
Do you need steals this week?
If Boston Celtics PG/SG Marcus Smart wasn’t an NBA basketball player he would probably be on America’s Most Wanted. The guy gets steals; like nearly three of them per game over the past five and 1.6 steals per game for the season. He also averages 10.1 points per game and pedestrian numbers in the rest of the scoring categories. The Celtics have three games this week (@ Dallas, Philadelphia @ Chicago) and Smart is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
What about assists?
Philadelphia 76ers PG T.J. McConnell averaged 5.8 assists over his past five games and with the 76ers having two games this week (@ Charlotte and @Boston) McConnell is an ideal candidate for assists as well as points, rebounds, steals and his shooting percentages are also quite good.
Chicago Bulls C Robin Lopez is averaging 1.6 blocks per game this season. He’s also a pretty good rebounder (6.9 per game) and scores almost ten points per game. The Bulls have two games this week (Toronto, Boston) and it’s amazing he’s still available in over 55 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Three Pointers Needed?
Cleveland Cavaliers SG Kyle Korver knocked down 3.6 triples over the past five games and 2.2 for the season. Of course that also means he’ll help out your scoring category plus he’s good for a few rebounds and assists plus the excellent shooting percentages. The Cavaliers have two games this week and Korver is available in just over 60 percent of Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Week 17 Waiver Wire
Atlanta Hawks SG Tim Hardaway Jr. is having a pretty good season. Over the past five games he’s averaging 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and nearly a steal a game. He’s also playing almost 33 minutes a night and with two games this week (@ Portland @ Clippers) and is available in over 60 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Boston Celtics C Kelly Olynyk is coming off the Celtics bench and over the past five games averaged 12.2 points, seven rebounds a couple of assists and a triple a night while playing 20 minutes. The Celtics have three games this week (@ Dallas, Philadelphia @ Chicago) and is available in over 90 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Indiana Pacers SG SF C.J. Miles is a streaky player but over the past five games knocked down 3.2 triples to go along with 14.2 points per game while playing 27.2 minutes a night. He also has extremely good shooting percentages and with three games this week (San Antonio, @ Cleveland and Washington) and would be another great choice for those needing triples this week. Miles is available in over 90 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Miami Heat SF James Johnson is putting together a nice season. Over his past five games he’s averaging 18.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 blocks, one steal while playing 29.2 minutes a night for the Heat. The Heat has two games this week (Orlando and @Houston) and Johnson is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Denver Nuggets SG/SF Will Barton is still coming off the Nuggets bench and over the past five games is averaging 16.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, five assists and a block and a steal while playing just under 32 minutes a night. The Nuggets have two home games this week with Golden State and Minnesota and he is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Los Angeles Clippers SG/SF Jamal Crawford is starting to heat up. Over the past five games he’s averaging 20 points, three assists and a steal plus 3.6 triples a night while playing 30 minutes a night. The Clippers have two games this week (@ Utah and Atlanta) and is available in just over 55 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.
Good luck this week Fantasy Basketball owner!!
