There are a handful of top options on this slate but the one I like the most is the Detroit Tigers SP Michael Fulmer ($9300) against a Tampa Bay Rays offense with a 28.1 percent strikeout rate, .308 wOBA and wRC+ of 101 this season against righties. This season Fulmer has a couple of Quality Starts, one win and 8.25 strikeouts per nine innings.
Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu ($6600) hasn’t lasted longer than 4.2 innings in each of his last two starts but he has a good opportunity tonight against a Colorado Rockies offense with a 24.5 percent strikeout rate, .316 wOBA and wRC+ of 84 this season against southpaws. This season Ryu boasts 9.64 strikeouts per nine innings with a 3.24 xFIP.
Colorado Rockies SP Kyle Freeland ($6300) might make for a cheap punt tonight on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are 21st against lefties this season with a 23 percent strikeout rate, wOBA of .286 and wRC+ of 81. Freeland struggled with his command his last time out but he did manage to strikeout six Dodgers hitters in his last start against them.
The Chicago Cubs have a good opportunity tonight against Milwaukee Brewers rightie Jimmy Nelson. I like Cubs hitters Kris Bryant ($4100), Anthony Rizzo ($4200), Kyle Schwarber ($3400) and Ben Zobrist ($3000) tonight at home.
The Baltimore Orioles have a nice opportunity tonight against Cincinnati Reds SP Bronson Arroyo. Orioles hitters I would target are Manny Machado ($3900), Mark Trumbo ($3600) and Chris Davis ($3300) tonight on the road against Arroyo.
The Cleveland Indians have a good opportunity tonight against Minnesota Twins rightie Phil Hughes. Bats I would use from the Indians lineup are Francisco Lindor ($4100), Carlos Santana ($3700) and Michael Brantley ($3800).
The Houston Astros have a good opportunity tonight against the Los Angeles Angels rightie Ricky Nolasco. If I were to stack Astros bats tonight I would use George Springer ($4100), Carlos Correa ($3700), Jose Altuve ($4100) and Brian McCann ($3000).
Phil’s Top Three Plays for Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels OF Mike Trout ($4900) has a good opportunity tonight on the road against Houston Astros rightie Joe Musgrove. Musgrove has a .400 BABIP, .308 ISO, .441 wOBA and wRC+ of 198 against righties this season. Right handed bats are slugging .600 with a .452 wOBA and this .755 xFIP against right handed bats is something I am sure Trout can take advantage of tonight in Houston.
Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte ($3600) has a good opportunity tonight against St Louis Cardinals rightie Mike Leake. This season Marte is slugging .500, wOBA of .367 and WRC+ of 135 against righties and Leake thus far this season has a paltry xFIP of 1.69 versus right handed bats. In spite of this low xFIP Marte still has plenty of ways to score tonight.
Minnesota Twins 3B Miguel Sano ($3400) has a good opportunity tonight at home against Cleveland Indians rightie Josh Tomlin. Sano has a .310 ISO, .393 wOBA and wRC+ of 158 against righties this season while Tomlin has an xFIP of .428 , .429 slugging percentage and wOBA of .355 on the road against right handed bats. This might turn out to be a very good thing for Sano tonight.
Good luck at FanDuel tonight!
