FanDuel MLB Top Picks, Stacks and Starting Pitching Options!!

There are eleven games on the main MLB slate at FanDuel tonight. The real question we have is whether or not to fade Dodgers Ace Clayton Kershaw tonight.

The weather looks fairly decent tonight except for the Cleveland Indians/Minnesota Twins game so keep your eyes on that game weather wise tonight.

Games Money Line Over Under Totals
White Sox @ Yankees Yankees -220 8.5
Red Sox @ Blue Jays Red Sox -117 8.5
Orioles @ Reds Baltimore -120 9.5
Phillies @ Mets Mets -153 8
Tigers @ Rays Rays -148 7.5
Nationals @ Braves Nationals -135
Indians @ Twins Cleveland -119 9
Angels @ Astros Houston -210 8.5
Giants @ Royals Giants -139 7.5

Diamondbacks @ Padres Diamondbacks -144 7.5

Starting Pitching

Obviously Dodgers Ace Clayton Kershaw ($12,900) and the Giants Madison Bumgarner ($11,100) are in play tonight but for those of you interested in building a lineup without them in it I have a couple of reasonable ideas for you to consider.

The New York Mets are currently a heavy favorite but with a 24 percent strikeout rate and .261 wOBA against righties it’s hard not to consider Philadelphia Phillies SP Vince Velasquez ($7800) tonight. This season Velasquez is striking out 38 percent of hitters faced for a whopping 17 strikeouts per nine innings. Very low SIERA of 3.15 and xFIP of 3.20 in his two starts this season.

New York Yankees SP Masihiro Tanaka ($8600) has a decent opportunity tonight against a White Sox offense with a 25 percent strikeout rate and wOBA of .266 against righties this season. Tanaka has a nice 8.36 strikeouts per nine innings and has struck out 18.6 percent of the batters he has faced this season. Tanaka has an average SIERA rate of 4.61 and xFIP of 5.00 in three starts this season.

If cheap is what you are after Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson ($6400) has a nice opportunity tonight against a Dodgers offense with a 22 percent strikeout rate and wOBA of .286 against left handed pitchers this season. In three starts this season Anderson has struck out 18.2 percent of hitters faced and has 7.36 strikeouts per nine innings. Anderson has a decent SIERA rate of 4.42 and xFIP and 4.33 xFIP over his three starts.

Possible Stacking Options Tonight

The Washington Nationals have been clubbing right handed pitchers this season. Obviously players to look to tonight against the Braves Julio Teheran are Bryce Harper ($4700) and Daniel Murphy ($3600). Less obvious might be Ryan Zimmerman ($2800), Matt Wieters ($2900) and Adam Eaton ($3700).

The Arizona Diamondbacks are another team making a mockery of right handed pitchers and they will face Padres SP Jhoulys Chacin in San Diego tonight. I like Jake Lamb ($3900), Paul Goldschmidt ($4300), A.J. Pollock ($3600) and Yasmany Thomas ($2900) tonight. Okay you talked me into David Peralta ($3100) also.

The Houston Astros are one of the hottest hitting teams in all of baseball and that probably will continue tonight against Los Angeles Angels SP J.C. Ramirez. Just look at their roster and mix and match because they all are rocking righties so far this season.

If stacking an entire game suits your fancy I would look to the Cleveland Indians/Minnesota Twins game or the Baltimore Orioles/Cincinnati Reds game tonight. Both games have a nine or more expected run total so double stack to your heart’s content. Just remember to be mindful of the weather in Minneapolis tonight.

Phil’s Top Three Plays Tonight

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto ($3800) has a good opportunity at home tonight against the Orioles Ubaldo Jimenez. In 49 plate appearances against righties this season Votto has .336 wOBA and wRC+ of 109 with a .220 ISO while Jiminez has struck out 26.3 percent of the left handed bats he’s face and has a xFIP of 3.81 against lefties he’s faced this season.

Baltimore Orioles OF Adam Jones ($3600) has a very good opportunity tonight against Cincinnati Reds SP Amir Garrett. In only 17 plate appearances this season against southpaws Jones has a .340 wOBA and wRC+ of 120 whereas Garrett has struck out 18 percent of right handed batters he’s faced and has a 4.22 xFIP against right handed batters he’s faced this season.

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence ($3000) has a good opportunity tonight against Kansas City lefty Jason Vargas. In just 19 plate appearances against southpaws this season Pence .459 wOBA and wRC+ of 197 while Vargas has struck out 30 percent of the right handed batters he has faced this season with a 2.12 xFIP against right handed hitters this season.

Good luck at FanDuel tonight.
